Rapper Lil Durk was arrested in Florida by U.S. Marshals on a charge of murder for hire. Five members of his hip hop collective, “Only the Family,” were also arrested in California for committing a murder in revenge for the death of a fellow group member. The indictment alleges that the murder was planned using interstate facilities and resulted in the death of a person. Lil Durk is the founder of OTF and has a 2018 album under the same title. The charges stem from a physical altercation at a nightclub in 2020 that resulted in the death of a high-ranking OTF member. After the death, a co-conspirator offered a reward for anyone who would kill the person responsible. Five men, including Lil Durk, traveled to Los Angeles to track down and kill the individual, resulting in the death of a passenger in the target’s vehicle. The indictment outlines charges of conspiracy, use of interstate facilities to commit murder for hire resulting in death, use and discharge of firearms, possession of firearms, and criminal forfeiture.
