The Los Alamos Community Foundation (LACF) has recently established two new seed funds that can grow into named endowment funds to support local nonprofit organizations. These funds provide individuals or families with the opportunity to start a fund with a small investment and have five years to reach $10,000 to create a lasting endowment.
One of the seed funds will benefit Self Help, Inc., a organization that has been providing support to people in Northern New Mexico for 55 years. The other fund will support the arts in Los Alamos County and the surrounding region. These funds rely on the community’s support to grow into endowments, and donations can be made to LACF with a note designating a specific fund.
LACF also stewards endowment funds for various community organizations, including Family Council, Los Alamos Little Theatre, and Family Strengths Network, among others. The foundation encourages residents to consider a lasting gift to an endowment fund and offers various ways to donate, such as checks, credit cards, stocks, and more.
Established in 2015, the Los Alamos Community Foundation aims to improve the local quality of life by supporting enduring philanthropy and local nonprofit organizations. With over $1.5 million in total assets, LACF currently manages sixteen locally endowed funds. For more information or to donate, visit www.losalamoscf.org.
