Trump and Harris campaign in North Carolina and Wisconsin for 2020 elections

In a new ad from the progressive evangelical group Vote Common Good, George Clooney encourages male voters to vote for Harris/Walz without their Republican friends knowing. The ad shows three men entering a polling place, with one initially stating “Let’s make America great again” in reference to Trump’s slogan, but ultimately one man chooses to vote for Harris when he sees his daughter nearby. Clooney emphasizes that “what happens in the booth stays in the booth.” A similar ad narrated by Julia Roberts focuses on empowering women to vote for Harris as well.

Doug Pagitt, an evangelical pastor and executive director of Vote Common Good, explains that the goal of the ads is to remind voters that they can break with Republican friends and family members, despite pressure from the MAGA movement. The group was created in 2018 as a progressive response to Trump’s popularity among conservative evangelical Christians, who overwhelmingly supported him in previous elections. The ads aim to encourage voters to make independent choices and vote for candidates who align with their values, even if it means going against the political views of those around them.
