Police say a Florida teenager was kidnapped and dismembered after meeting a man on social media.

Miranda Corsette, a 16-year-old girl from Florida, was reported missing last month after meeting a 35-year-old man named Steven Gress through a social media app. Police received a tip about a possible kidnapping and homicide involving Corsette, leading them to investigate further. It was discovered that Corsette had been lured to Gress’ home and stayed with him and his partner, Michelle Brandes, until a dispute occurred and the teen was allegedly beaten. Investigators believe that Corsette was killed between Feb. 20 and Feb. 24, and her body was then dismembered and dumped in a dumpster in Ruskin. Gress was arrested for drug possession and pointing a harpoon at his partner, and is now facing a kidnapping charge related to Corsette’s disappearance. The investigation is still ongoing, and more charges are expected. Police are still searching for Gress’ partner, Brandes, and are asking anyone with information to come forward. This tragic case serves as a reminder of the dangers of meeting strangers online and the importance of staying safe while using social media.
