NM State Track & Field Shines at Mike Fanelli Track Classic and Stanford Invitational

SAN FRANCISCO / STANFORD, Calif. – The NM State Track and Field team had a successful showing at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic and the Stanford Invitational, with standout performances from Rachel O’Brien and the DMR teams.

At the Stanford Invitational, Rachel O’Brien continued her impressive form by winning her section in the 800m with a personal best time of 2:06.54, the second fastest in NM State history. O’Brien had broken her own school record in the 1500m on the first day of competition.

In San Francisco, the men’s mile saw strong debuts from Derick Castellanos, Leo Valenzuela, Jonah Archer, Christian Baretto, and Gabriel Uranga. In the 800m, Angela Korte set a new personal best with a time of 2:13.33, while the DMR teams excelled with the women’s team finishing first and the men’s team setting a new school record and finishing second.

Overall, the team had multiple top-3 finishes and personal best performances, including Nia Allison in the 800m, Angela Korte in the 800m, and Rachel O’Brien in the 800m.
