Aggies suffer a loss in game three against UTEP

NM State Softball suffered a 7-2 loss at UTEP, dropping their overall record to 21-17 and 8-7 in CUSA play. UTEP scored multiple runs in the first inning, but NM State fought back with a solo home run by Kristiana Watson. UTEP continued to build their lead, eventually winning the game 7-2. This defeat marked NM State’s first-ever sweep in CUSA play and the first time UTEP defeated them three times in a single season.

Despite the loss, there were some standout performances from Tamara Carranza, Bella Clapp, and Skye Johnson. Taryn Bennett also had a solid performance in relief, allowing just one earned run in 2.2 innings pitched. The Aggies allowed 22 runs over the weekend series, a stark difference from their previous outings.

Next up, NM State will face Liberty, the top seed in Conference USA, in a three-game series at the NM State Softball Complex. Liberty, ranked 24th in the nation, will provide a tough challenge for the Aggies. The first pitch is set for Friday at 6:00 p.m. and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
