Aggies Dominate with Offensive Surge to Finish Series Sweep

NM State Baseball Claims Series Sweep with Dominant 16-8 Victory Over Middle Tennessee

LAS CRUCES, N.M. — April 29, 2025 — The NM State baseball team achieved a significant milestone this weekend, sweeping Middle Tennessee in a three-game series, culminating in a decisive 16-8 victory at Presley Askew Field. This win marks the Aggies’ first series sweep in Conference USA play this season.

The Aggies (22-22, 10-8 CUSA) set the tone early as Bryce Campbell hit a two-run home run in the first inning. Despite Middle Tennessee (19-25, 4-14 CUSA) briefly taking the lead with a five-run fourth inning, NM State responded emphatically with a seven-run rally in their half of the inning. Notable contributions came from Boston Vest, Gianni Horvat, and Joey Craig, who ignited the offense, propelling the Aggies to a 9-5 advantage.

NM State continued to dominate, with Vest and Horvat hitting back-to-back home runs in the fifth inning. The team further solidified their lead with five additional runs in the sixth, including a three-RBI single from Austin Corbett.

The Aggies collected 16 runs on 18 hits, reflecting a balanced offensive effort where eight players made significant contributions. Bryce Campbell led the charge with three hits and four RBIs, while Austin Corbett added two hits and three RBIs.

On the mound, Ian Hoslett set the stage with three scoreless innings, followed by Matthew Yarc, who earned his first collegiate win after striking out five in three innings.

With this victory, NM State matches its longest win streak of the season at three games. The Aggies will look to extend their momentum on Tuesday against No. 16 Arizona at 7 p.m. MDT, streamed live on ESPN+.
