Aggies Compete at One-Day Track Event in Baton Rouge
Baton Rouge, LA – The New Mexico State Aggies faced fierce competition in a one-day track meet featuring eight schools. Despite challenges, including travel constraints that limited the squad to seven athletes, the Aggies showcased impressive performances in both track and field events.
Jhana Downie led the track efforts with a notable sixth-place finish in the 200m, clocking in at 23.39 seconds. Teammate Breanna Moss also made her mark, competing in the 400m hurdles and finishing with a time of 1:01.24, just two seconds shy of her personal best set earlier in the month.
In field events, Cameron Hodges shone brightly, securing an eighth-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.61m. This performance not only marked a personal record for Hodges but also highlighted the potential of the Aggies in the field.
The team now looks ahead to their next competition as they travel to Tucson, Arizona, for the Desert Heat Classic, hosted by the Arizona Wildcats. This event will serve as a critical opportunity for the Aggies to refine their skills before heading into the 2025 CUSA Outdoor Championships.
