Steve Loy and Michael Sinclair Elected to New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame
PORTALES, N.M. – The New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame has announced the induction of two distinguished athletes, Steve Loy and Michael Sinclair, into its 2024 class.
Steve Loy, a native of Albuquerque, made his mark as team captain of the 1972 and 1973 Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) Greyhound football teams before graduating in 1974. Following his college tenure, Loy transitioned into a successful career as a collegiate golf coach, serving at Arkansas and Arizona State. Since 1992, he has presided over Gaylord Sports Management and SportFive, recognized as the world’s leading golf sports agency operating across five continents. Loy has been honored in multiple halls of fame, including the NJCAA Coaches Hall of Fame and the NCAA Coaches Hall of Fame. Reflecting on his induction, he expressed gratitude for the opportunities provided by his high school and college, stating, “New Mexico will always be my home.”
Michael Sinclair, originally from Galveston, Texas, excelled at ENMU, earning back-to-back first-team all-Lone Star Conference selections in 1989 and 1990. As a senior, he was named LSC Defensive Lineman of the Year and earned a spot on the 1990 Associated Press All-American team for Division II. Drafted in the sixth round of the 1991 NFL Draft, Sinclair enjoyed an illustrious 11-year NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks and Philadelphia Eagles. Honored as a 2025 inductee, he expressed profound gratitude, highlighting the dedication he brought to his football journey.
Loy and Sinclair will be formally introduced at a press conference on December 28, 2024, at the PIT, University of New Mexico. They will also be recognized during the New Mexico Bowl on the same day.
