Aggie Men’s Golf Team Secures NCAA Auburn Regional Bid
LAS CRUCES, N.M. – In a historic achievement for NM State Athletics, the Aggie men’s golf team has received an at-large bid to compete in the NCAA Auburn Regional, scheduled for May 12-14. This marks the first time since the volleyball team secured an at-large berth in 2008 that an NM State program will participate in the NCAA Tournament.
The Aggies, ranked #63 nationally, will enter the tournament as the No. 11 seed among a competitive field of 13 teams at the Auburn University Club in Alabama. They will face formidable opponents, including top-seed Auburn, the defending national champions, and other notable teams such as Texas A&M, UCLA, and Georgia Tech.
The selection process underscored the team’s strong performance throughout the season, highlighting their resilience and skill on the national stage. NM State is one of only two teams from Conference USA to qualify, joining Sam Houston, which earned a spot in the Reno Regional.
As the tournament progresses, the top five teams from Auburn and the highest individual not part of an advancing team will secure a place in the national championship at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California, slated for May 23-28.
Fans are encouraged to follow the Aggie men’s golf team’s journey on social media platforms including Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, as excitement builds towards this significant milestone in the program’s history.
