NM State Aggies Lead Suspended Game Against Kennesaw State Due to Weather
MARIETTA, Ga. – The New Mexico State Aggies kicked off their weekend road series at Kennesaw State with an impressive start but were met with inclement weather that suspended the game. After recording 24 outs and leading 9-5 with no outs in the bottom of the ninth, play was halted at S. Walter Kelly Sr. Memorial Field due to heavy rain associated with the region’s monsoon season.
The Aggies surged to an early 6-0 lead in the first two innings, showcasing strong offensive play. However, Kennesaw State fought back, narrowing the gap to two runs by the end of the fifth inning. A tense sixth, seventh, and eighth inning passed with neither team able to score, maintaining the suspense. Mitch Namie’s two-run homer in the ninth inning appeared to secure a solid advantage for the Aggies before the weather interrupted.
The game is slated for resumption tomorrow, with the start time yet to be determined, pending weather conditions. NM State aims to complete all three scheduled games this weekend, weather permitting.
