Aggies Sign Senior Guard Anthony Wrzeszcz for 2025-26 Season

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – In an exciting announcement today, Head Coach Jason Hooten revealed that the New Mexico State Aggies have signed senior guard Anthony Wrzeszcz, a 6-4 playmaker from Gydina, Poland. Wrzeszcz will join the Aggies for the 2025-26 season.

Most recently, Wrzeszcz played at McMaster University in Canada during the 2024-25 season, where he made a notable impact over 11 games, starting eight. He averaged 10.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. His standout performance included a 24-point game against Carleton, where he hit five three-pointers, and he also recorded a season-high seven assists versus Nipissing.

Previously, he spent two seasons at Sam Houston, where he played under Coach Hooten during his freshman year. In the 2023-24 season, he was instrumental in helping the Bearkats clinch their first-ever Conference USA regular season championship. Wrzeszcz averaged 13.6 minutes per game, with 20 steals and just 14 turnovers over 30 games, demonstrating his efficiency on both ends of the court.

A well-rounded player, Wrzeszcz has also represented the Polish national team, contributing to the U20 and U18 teams with impressive averages. Before entering college basketball, he showcased his talent at Wasatch Academy and participated in prestigious events like the BioSteel All-Canadian Game.

Coach Hooten expressed enthusiasm for Wrzeszcz’s return, stating, "He’s a tremendous culture guy who has always put the team first. Anthony is a strong shooter and understands our defensive philosophy deeply. It’s special to bring him back home."

The Aggies anticipate that Wrzeszcz’s skill set and experience will bolster their roster in the upcoming season.
