Aggies Fall to Red Raiders in High-Scoring Non-Conference Clash

LUBBOCK, Texas – The New Mexico State Aggies faced off against the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Tuesday night, ultimately succumbing to a 13–6 defeat at Rip Griffin Park. The game, which started 40 minutes late due to inclement weather, saw the Aggies jump out to an early lead.

The Aggies (22-26, 10-10 CUSA) wasted no time, scoring three runs in the first inning. Mitch Namie initiated the scoring with a single, followed by a walk from Steve Solorzano. Bryce Campbell then delivered a two-RBI double, and Camden Kaufman added another RBI double to secure a 3–0 lead.

However, Texas Tech (17-28, 11-13 Big 12) responded quickly, tying the game in the second inning through a series of hits and a two-run rally. The Aggies briefly regained the lead in the third thanks to an RBI single from Boston Vest, putting them ahead 5–3. Yet, the Red Raiders continued to apply pressure, with Logan Hughes hitting a two-run homer in the fourth that shifted the game in Texas Tech’s favor for good.

The Red Raiders scored in five consecutive innings, establishing an 11–5 lead by the seventh. NM State managed one more run in that inning when Vest tripled to score Solorzano, marking a solid performance with two RBIs.

Notable performances included Campbell, who achieved his 11th multi-RBI game of the season, and Vest, who had two hits. The Aggies concluded their non-conference schedule with a 12-16 record, including a challenging 2-9 in midweek games.
