Albuquerque Police Apprehend Suspect Involved in ATM Harassment Incident

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — An attempted robbery incident escalated Wednesday afternoon near the Uptown Transit Center, resulting in the shooting of a suspect identified as Justyn McDaniel. Witnesses reported McDaniel, a homeless man, aggressively demanding money from individuals at the drive-up ATM of Nusenda Credit Union located at 6501 Indian School Rd NE.

The situation took a violent turn when McDaniel confronted two credit union employees, punching one in the face. He further threatened other patrons by jumping on a woman’s vehicle and vandalizing her windshield when she refused to give him money. A concerned bystander intervened by firing a warning shot in the air; however, McDaniel continued his aggressive behavior. When he approached another customer, that individual fired a shot, hitting McDaniel in the leg.

Police officers arrived shortly after and arrested McDaniel, who was subsequently transported to a hospital for treatment. He now faces three felony charges related to this incident. The Albuquerque Police Department continues to investigate the matter, urging community vigilance in similar situations.
