Aggies Level Series Against LA Tech with 10-5 Win on Friday Night

NM State Baseball Dominates LA Tech in 10-5 Victory

RUSTON, La. – In an impressive show of offensive power, the NM State Aggies bounced back to even their weekend series against Louisiana Tech with a commanding 10-5 victory on Friday night at J.C. Love Field.

After a quiet start, the Aggies (23-30, 11-14 CUSA) ignited their offense in the second inning. Grant Horvat initiated the scoring with a single, followed by a run from a wild pitch. RBIs from teammates Brandon Forrester and Mitch Namie pushed NM State to a 3-0 lead by the end of the inning.

Continuing their momentum, Bryce Campbell led off the third with a double, leading to more runs as Horvat connected for an RBI single. The Aggies exploited LA Tech’s defensive mistakes, scoring two unearned runs in the fourth, bringing their lead to 8-0.

The Aggies weren’t done; Steve Solorzano hit a two-run homer in the sixth, marking his third hit of the night and solidifying a 10-0 lead. Despite a late rally from LA Tech (30-23, 13-12 CUSA), which saw them score five runs, NM State’s defense held strong to secure the win.

Solorzano stood out with a stellar 3-for-4 performance, contributing three RBIs and two runs. The Aggies also saw key offensive contributions from Horvat, who had three hits, and Joey Craig, who added two hits and a stolen base.

With this victory, NM State not only recorded their 13th game of the season with double-digit runs but also secured the No. 7 seed for the upcoming Conference USA Championship, setting up a matchup against No. 2 Western Kentucky.
