Santa Fe Library Seeks Missing Clifford Stuffed Animal; Young Donor Steps Up
SANTA FE, N.M. – A heartwarming story has emerged from the La Farge Library following the unexpected disappearance of a beloved Clifford the Big Red Dog stuffed animal. Over recent weeks, its absence left many young library-goers feeling disappointed. Eight-year-old Ava Robbins took action to fill the void by donating her own stuffed Clifford, accompanied by his friend, Biscuit.
“I was worried Clifford would be lonely,” said Robbins, showcasing her generous spirit. The donation garnered attention from Alyssa Satin Capucilli, author of the Biscuit book series, who expressed her gratitude for Robbins’ thoughtful gesture. "It’s very moving, and it’s very humbling," she said. Capucilli has dedicated nearly 30 years to creating characters that not only entertain children but also aid in developing their reading skills.
With the summer ahead, Capucilli encouraged children to read to their stuffed animals or pets—a practice that can significantly boost confidence and reading fluency. She thanked Robbins for her kindness, stating it serves as an "inspiration" for everyone. The La Farge Library may still be seeking its original Clifford, but the community is undoubtedly enriched by Ava’s selflessness.
